If your district wants a better return on its investment in SARCs, why not aim for both compliance and effective communication? We have eight years' experience in helping parents "get it" and in helping your staff lighten their workload. We take care of almost all data and writing. Principals benefit from our coaching, either in our written instructions or in telephone interviews. Your district staff benefits from having less work and from being guided through an increasingly complex process.

COMPLIANCE PROFILE. This SARC meets all of the state and federal legal requirements for school-level accountability reporting. We gather, explain, and interpret almost all your data, meeting the understandability requirements of state and federal law. We also post your SARCs online to help you meet the laws' dissemination requirements. And when you send us the writing your principals provide, and the modest amount of data your district provides, we are able to publish your SARCs in a fully compliant form.

TIMING. First galleys are available within three weeks from the date you provide us with the necessary elements: principals' writing and a modest amount of data from the district. This turnaround commitment is, of course, dependent on the CDE's release of all data elements required to build this report. Given the CDE's current schedules, the earliest possible date for release of first galleys is November.

AUDIENCE. This 28-to-36-page report is intended to be read by School Site Council members preparing for Single School Plans, board members, journalists, PTA members, parents shopping for schools, business partners, grant-making organizations, teachers, future teachers under recruitment, and educators. High school staff also find it useful when preparing for WASC accreditation reviews.

LANGUAGE VERSIONS. Reports are available in English and Spanish.

PRINCIPALS' WRITING AND DISTRICT'S DATA. The full-length SARC report contains from 1,000 to 2,000 words of principals' writing. Our workbook guides principals through approximately 20 questions; it includes sample writing and explanations of the SARC requirements. Telephone interviews are available for an additional fee. The only data we require from the district is related to the Williams requirements (adequacy of teachers, textbooks, and facilities), SB687 requirements (school finance and CTE), and a few other factors (high school completion, etc.).

PRODUCTION STANDARDS. Online versions of these PDF reports appear in full color. Readers can find definitions for some terms by means of hypertext links. We provide over 50 links to additional content for more curious readers. Most of those links are pages on the CDE Web site. The Williams portion of the full SARC is viewable from links within the document, and as a stand-alone, Web-accessible reporting module.

PRINTING. Few districts choose to print this report, preferring instead to post it online. This report is always bundled with the Fact Sheet, which enables parents to easily find and understand the facts that matter most to them. If you want printed copies of this report, we can provide them in one color (black only), two colors (blue and black), or full color.
